Hay
November 21, 2025
Coming out of winter we were still using the almost perfect profile large round hay bails of teff on our feeder that we made in 2023. We didn’t realize it at the time, but those were the golden days. Putting out a round bales and not having to worry about the horses getting food for another 10 days on average. Of course they have their specialty grain, and supplement feedings, but a full slow feed net lets you stay in bed a bit longer in the morning.
We thought we were on top of things come spring. V was already in communication with our hay guy and we expected to have another round of beautiful maintenance free hay coming our way. Instead we got a delivery of moldy hay later in the season which set us on the arduous task of finding good hay that can feed 4 different horse needs, during the end of season after a bad growing year.
